REITIA Surveying Underwater Archaeology

In the first half of July 2007 Reitia took part with the Archeomar Project archaeologists to the prospecting and first survey of the Capo Rizzuto Gunship wreck, in the Ionian waters. The Gunship's remnants were initially discovered by Reitia's divers, guided by the local professional diver Richi Fauci (Diving Center Le Cannella) two weeks before, during the 9th Archaeology Diver training course held by Reitia. Nine gun barrels were identified, lying quite neatly on the sea bottom. Both planimetric and video-photo surveys were carried out, together with a thorough prospecting of the area.
